Bio:
Formed in Tokyo in 2013, Mrs. GREEN APPLE is a Japanese rock band known for their energetic J-pop and alternative rock sound. Starting as a four-piece with Motoki Ohmori, Hiroto Wakai, Ayaka Yamanaka, and Takumi Matsuo, they became a five-piece with Ryoka Fujisawa before Matsuo’s 2014 exit and Yamanaka and Kiyokazu Takano’s 2021 departure. Their name, reflecting a “beginner’s mind” (green apple) with “Mrs.” for neutrality, led to their 2015 major-label debut with EMI Records via Variety. Their first album, Twelve (2016), hit number 10 on Oricon, with songs like “Inferno” (Fire Force) gaining fame. After a 2020 hiatus, they returned as a trio in 2022 with Unity. Their 2023 album Antenna and 2025’s 10 (Million-certified) dominate charts, with over 5 million YouTube subscribers and 2025 Tokyo Disney collabs. Despite a 2024 “Columbus” video controversy, their live shows and emotional lyrics make them J-pop giants.
