Charli XCX dives headfirst into the wild winds of obsession on Wuthering Heights, her sixth

Charli XCX has announced a new album titled Wuthering Heights, which is set to be released on February 13, 2026, coinciding with the theatrical release of Emerald Fennell’s film adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel Wuthering Heights. The album features 12 original tracks, including a collaboration with John Cale of The Velvet Underground, who contributes to the song “House.” This song blends harsh viola and spoken word with Charli’s distinctive vocals, adding to the album’s atmospheric and emotionally intense sound, echoing Charli’s earlier work on her debut album True Romance.
The album serves as the soundtrack to the film and embraces themes of passion, pain, and gothic aesthetic, reflecting the dramatic and tumultuous nature of the story. Charli XCX described this project as a new escape into a different sonic world, contrasting with her previous album Brat. The collaboration with John Cale, inspired by his description of Velvet Underground’s music as both “elegant and brutal,” adds a unique intensity to the album. This project also highlights Charli’s continuing evolution as an artist, taking on new creative challenges and pushing her boundaries in both music and acting.
