Tame Impala’s fifth studio album, Deadbeat, is set for release on October 17, 2025, through Columbia Records. Created by Australian multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker, the album was largely developed in his hometown of Fremantle and his Wave House studio in Injidup, Western Australia, during the first half of 2025. Marked by a departure into a more minimalistic and playful sound, Deadbeat is deeply influenced by the bush doof culture and Western Australian rave scene, aiming to recast Tame Impala as a future primitive rave act.

Lyrically, the album paints a picture of an emotionally complex and self-critical individual stuck in a repetitive feedback loop, struggling to get life together, while musically embracing euphoria and dance-driven energy. The project follows Parker’s previous acclaimed 2020 album The Slow Rush and includes singles like “End of Summer” and “Loser,” the latter of which features a music video starring actor Joe Keery. Fans can expect a collection of potent club-psych explorations with 12 tracks in total, showcasing Parker’s evolution as a songwriter and producer.
